Garden 9: Margaret Rae & Judy Duffy 'Merindol' 7 Cameron Court Buxton |
Need photos |
This large semi-formal garden evolved from neglected grazing land over the last 17 years. We followed no specific plan but wanted a garden that was harmonious, beautiful and flowing. Clarity was also important and fashion not at all. Most of the plants have low water needs and, in the main, are shrubs and trees. Throughout the seasons colours, contrasting with the green, come in shades of plum, purple, red, yellow and lime green. Bulbs bloom in succession from mid-winter to high summer. Vegetables intermingled with various flowers grow in their own patches. Autumn here is exquisite, Winter a wonder with the bare trees revealing their graceful hidden shapes and Spring a delight with its fresh new colours and the return of the flowers. Summer is rich and full until the fierce sun of late summer takes its toll and we wait again for Autumn. |
